I just upgraded the forum to the latest version of IPB Boards.
We didn't lose any content or member info.

It's basically the "look" and the way you will access some options that has changed.

You can access your "Settings" by clicking on the drop down menu next to your name up in the
top right hand corner of the forum.. next to the banner.
To change your signature or avatar.. click on Settings..then the Profile tab

I am having trouble with the "upload" feature..so for now you can't upload a new personal photo.
But you can link avatars to photobucket accounts.

Over the next few days I will be working on switching the various images on the forum..
emoticons, folder images, rank images etc.

Please be patient during the switch.

When I think I'm done..I'll post. Then if you still have a problem after that.. you can let me know.

WOW! As some French learners say, "C'est super cool!" "Chouette!" I'll have to come back later and check things out. For the moment, back to homework.

Merci Mary

Lafemme.. every so often I think about suggesting upgrading GBGF .. but can you imagine the response!!
It would be crazy with all of the people there who HATE change!!

I figured that since it's so slow right now here..would be a good time to upgrade..
and this way it's all in place before we get new members *fingers crossed* ..when Hawaii 5-0 premieres.

You know it's funny but everyone there is complaining about how slow it is. I think you should do it. That'll liven things up. I really like the new format. On a serious not, I'm not sure but you do know better if it will mesh in with everything we have there.

Good luck!

The GBGF Forum could be converted.. I'd just copy the code for the sidebar..and then paste it in to the "blocks" on the sidebar for the new forum like we have here.
Everything else.. would stay the same..as far as content, forum set up etc.
There aren't too many skins for this new version yet.. I was lucky because the one that comes as default is "Blue" so I could make it match the banner hear perfectly.
I'd have to do a bit more editing to get the brown/green colors for GBGF..but it's "do-able"

Well one thing nice about this new format I discovered a few minutes ago is there is a mobile version that's VERY easy to read. So...maybe tell them something's coming in September and let them get ready for it. I LIKE the new format. It's nice and easy to read.

One question though...where do you select what type of "editor" you want to use? That might be the only thing that confuses people. I'm used to seeing Rich HTML or something to that effect.

I'll have to check the settings for the editor.. I think on my other sites I've seen that choice.
Maybe I don't have something set correctly here.

Glad to hear about the mobile version.. this upgrade has a "mobile version" built in.. it's not just the regular version on your phone. So I'm happy to hear that it's easier to view.

Just looked ..and there aren't two options on my other sites. What I saw was the words "increase editor size" or "decrease editor size".. with this skin.. that's the two up and down arrows at the top right of editor.

I'll look on some support forums to see if there is a way to have that option.. but I don't think there is.

The new editor seems to be a combo of the "code" editor and the "what you see is what you get" editor

I think I figured it out. Yep, it's under settings, so you don't have to do it here within the post as it were. I don't know if that makes sense but with the GBGF, there was a choice to alternate between the two. Yeah!!

I say make the change for September and let them know it's coming.
